Solutions - Employee data Integration

The Human Resources divisions of large companies are often faced with the problem of having disparate Employee information distributed among hundreds of databases and applications around the world. These companies would find it valuable to create a single unified view of all of their Employees. Many companies would prefer to have a system of record for their Employees. This system would store a single "golden" copy of all their Employee information across the enterprise.

We help our clients get a unified view of their enterprise Employees by:

  • Providing a catalog of enterprise Employees, showing where the underlying data resides. E.g. identifying all the database tables where Employee-related data can be found.

  • Discovering and classifying all the Employee IDs across the enterprise.
E.g. identifying all the database tables where Employee IDs data can be found.

  • Creating a "golden" copy of Employee data, listing all of the Employees across the organization.

  • Creating the Employee cross reference table and identifying all of the relationships between Employee IDs in the enterprise landscape.

  • Synchronizing the entity cross reference table and ensuring that the "golden" repository is continuously synchronized with the enterprise data environment.

BARRIERS TO MULTI-COUNTRY DATA INTEGRATION

The general approach to Employee data integration is to map the existing Employee IDs to a Social Security number. Unfortunately, this approach does not work with Employee data that is outside the US.

The alternative approach is to obtain this unified view by implementing PeopleSoft or SAP or another HRM system to provide this integrated information. However, most ERP implementations integrate the employee data and processes within a country. It is often too costly to do the data integration on a multi-country basis across all major HR systems.

Another alternative is to create a multi-country data warehouses and often pull data from Employee related applications. However, such projects are inherently risky, and have a high degree of failure, because of the complexity and cost associated with integrating data and metadata that is distributed in a heterogeneous global data landscape.

OUR SOLUTION

An Enterprise Employee Data Repository having

  • A table with an accurate, up-to-date list of all Employees on an enterprise-wide basis.

  • The ability to determine all the new Employees that have been added recently, on an enterprise-wide basis.
  • A hierarchy of Employees, showing the parent-child relationships.

By using a combination of software and services solutions, we automate significant portions of the Employee data integration effort. As a result, we can deliver integrated Employee data repositories to companies at a reasonable cost. We can mitigate much of the risk associated with such projects, by delivering turn-key solutions.
