Solutions - Vender data Integration

Large companies with a multinational presence, often have their vendor information distributed among hundreds of databases and applications around the world. These companies would find it valuable to create a single unified view of all their vendors.

The majority of companies view their vendor data as a valuable information asset, giving them ability to perform spending analysis, pricing negotiations and requisition-to-payment workflow optimization.

Many companies would prefer to have a system of record for their vendors. This system would store a single "golden" copy of all their vendor information across the enterprise.

For example, it would be desirable to create an Enterprise Vendor Data Repository having

  • A table with an accurate, up-to-date list of all vendors on an enterprise-wide basis.
  • The ability to determine all the new vendors that have been added recently, on an enterprise-wide basis.
  • A hierarchy of vendors, showing the parent-child relationships.

We help our clients get a unified view of their enterprise vendors and suppliers by:

  • Providing a catalog of enterprise vendors, showing where the underlying data resides. E.g. identifying all the database tables where vendor-related data can be found.

  • Discovering and classifying the entire vendor IDs across the enterprise.
E.g. identifying all the database tables where vendor IDs data can be found.

  • Creating a "golden" copy of vendor data, listing all of the vendors across the organization.

  • Creating the vendor cross reference table and identifying all the relationships between vendor IDs in the enterprise landscape.

  • Synchronizing the entity cross reference table and ensuring that the "golden" repository is continuously synchronized with the enterprise data environment.

The general approach to vendor data integration is to map the existing vendor IDs to a DUNS number. Unfortunately, this approach does not work with vendor data that is outside of D&B's database (e.g. non-US locations). Our solutions are location-agnostic, and can be used to integrate global vendor data.

Data Warehouses and ERP projects often pull data from vendor related applications, but creating these vendor data repositories can be a very time consuming task. This is because the data and metadata is distributed in a heterogeneous data landscape.

By using a combination of software and services solutions, we automate significant portions of the vendor data integration effort. As a result, we can deliver integrated vendor data repositories to companies at a reasonable cost. We can often take away much of the risk associated with such projects, by delivering turn-key solutions.
